Default Fog switch removal?

Hi,

Kinda dumb question, but I don't want to just randomly start prodding. How are the fog switches affixed to the dash face? I'm looking to remove my useless fog switches.

The **** that you pull just comes off by turning... like a bolt.

Then you will see how the switch is held to the dash.

The black plastic ring of the switch you see now can also be unscrewed. How I did this was with a pair of pliers to squeeze c-clips for installation. Insert the two pins from the pliers in the little holes you see on that plastic part. Turn counter clock wise (if I remember correctly) and done.

You can also use the hole to install a voltmeter or combined voltmeter/usb power plug. Comes in handy when charging your phone.

Thanks for posting this part #. I swear in my pile of parts I bought one, can't find it.

So, option 1 is replace with a plug (no fogs anymore)
Option 2 is replace with another 12v plug. I bought a factory 12v outlet but I don't think it will fit right in the fog plug? Size seems different?
So, do any of you have an option for one that will fit w/o drilling the dash? An outlet with a flip cover w/ USB would be awesome...

Is it me or are those caps an absolute pain to install? They keep popping out no matter no matter how much I push them in.

Weird - I pushed it in once and it's never moved since.

This is what I used.

Amazon Amazon

I actually took the cover off. You will need to carve the fog light hole a bit wider to fit it. It's easy foam material on the dash. Downside is reversibility if you wanted to go back to a fog light button. But that USB port comes in handy as well as the voltmeter. I will try to post a pic today when I get home.
