Default Tarett Sping Plate any DIY

I have ordered a Tarett Sping plate. I have serached for a DIY link but I have only discovered discussions on the pros & cons of which way you mount the plate. It looks like a simple swap out, support the trailing arm, with a few high torque bolts. Alignment. Anyone blazed this trail and documented the swap...

Maybe look in Goughary’s suspension madness thread. I do recall some talk of two ways of installing it depending on the desired geometry settings.

We didn't install any tarrett spring plates in suspension madness...I wish i had gone that route for mine. Less weissach effect.

I don't know how long the heim should be, but i would imagine your best bet is to start by making it the same length as the oem one you take out. And move from there.

Also- something that is in the suspension madness thread, are the sealsit boots for the heims. They would be a good idea to make that last longer.

Thanks, good tip on length. I ordered with the boots.

Oh cool i was t aware they sold the boots. The seals are made by sealsit- if the boots aren't installed when you get them, sealsit has an install tool on their website that was around 14 dollars when i bought it- makes the boot install a no brainer. Without that tool, I'd have ripped a million seals

How much camber?
you can run them 2 orientations, one allows more rear camber. Forget which tho. Ira at tarett will know.

i am 95% on the street. My 964 is set at RS height and i will just stay with the recommended camber for the rear at -1.

I have them on my car and found that the length is very close to the shortest length possible, but backed out a bit. I can try and get a photo of my set, but thats a 89 C4. I know the 89's are odd ***** in the 964 family.

Just went through the install and setup on my 89 as well and I really like the Tarett spring plates in combination with sport rubber everywhere else. Mine is close to RS height. Toe and camber as per OEM specs too. You can get very precise with the alignment.

Thanks!
Andrew

Mine are done. It's not complicated. Some of the bolts were very tight though. We definitely needed the hoist. You'll need to do an alignment as well.

Brilliant, that is what I was looking for, hopefully, my bolts give a little better. Good pictures and notes. I’ll document my DIY when they arrive.

Word to the wise if you haven't taken spring plates off before-

You need a couple special tools for the allens on the upper side where they attach to the body. That is outlined well somewhere in suspension madness with links.

And when you go to loosen the main bolts against the trailing arm...loosen the nuts on the backside of the trailing arm first. Sounds silly simple, but those bolts if they have been on there a long time can be a real bitch. You'll see what i mean when you are in there.

+1

The HAZET 985 12mm socket was the only one I found to fit on the right side when tightening the rod end with a 1/2 in torque wrench.
