As for the wing, I can sympathize. I know I'll probably never find another one again. But would be nice to free up some garage space and maybe put the funds to something else on the car... We'll see.
Thanks for the support guys. I have set up quite a few 964s in different combinations of 17s and 18s ranging from conservative to aggressive fitment. If you need some help just let me know! Fun fact, we can do a 3" lip in the rear of a 964 with a 17", it looks pretty badass, hopefully Chip from SC will chime in on his custom set up on his 964.
Any pictures of that setup? That is tempting, but I like the tire options for the 18 a little more.
Another shout for Dave at butzigear. If you need wheels - particularly if you are doing custom or bbs, he is who you should be calling. The e88 I've seen at the shop have always been spot on and impeccably designed and finished.
If you have a C4 be careful of tire outer diameter choice. You are limited there.
For me- I'd like to see a 17" e88, as the e87 center is too small for a 17 for the look id like.
Alternately I'd like to have a set of 17" te37 in a porsche bolt pattern.
When i do either, I'll be calling butzigear...so get ready dave...it has to happen, cuz though i love having the perfect size cup 1 (7.5 and 9), they weigh a ton and a lighter set of wheels is in my future. What's the magnesium equivalent of an e88 center? An e26? But I'm NOT doing 24 carat gold plated hardware like that guy did with you last year...that looked amazing - i can't believe how you built those - i would have destroyed them...maybe we do e26 front mounted with hidden hardware...and brushed anodized hoops...

Hey fella's..... I cannot say enough about David Butzi's knowledge, patience with my million questions, customer service and follow through helping me with my wheel purchase. The guy is certainly an enthusiast too. I was considering two different style/brand wheels, both of which David happens to sell, and he was helpful weighing out the pros/cons to help me reach my decision.
My setup is 17X8 and 17X10 E87's. While tire selections are somewhat limited for 17" wheels, there are still great tires out there. I fit Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's 225/45 and 265/40. Excellent tires.

It's common knowledge that not only are 17's lighter, they spin up much quicker than 18's, rewarding the competent driver with superior acceleration times.

Wheel diameter should be similar regardless of rim size and tire combo. Carefully chosen tire and rim combo is what gives final wheel weight.
