I mean, I don’t see how the system in the 964 is that much less efficient than a 993. With proper maintinence they are good from what I have read. I’ve never had any problems and I deal with FL heat. Maybe your quote was high b/c the climate control unit needs replacing?

I believe that’s why 964’s garner a premium. Look old school but with modern tech. Older 911 a/c systems aren’t great. 993/996 styling departs from traditional lines. And 964 has updated suspension.

But at the the end of the day it’s all about what you want and how you’ll use the car.

The AC system on the 993 and 964 are quite similar. It works good when charged up and in good repair.

I actually liked the earlier R12 systems on the 964 over the later R134. The 134 works better when moving but does not work as well IMO when in traffic and engine speeds are low. They switched in 93 and made improvements for the 993 in 95.

Honestly as much as I like these cars if I were doing a highway commute with traffic and wanted an open car the 981 Boxster especially the GTS is a nice ride and IMO offers more than some of the 911 counterparts noted. Only down side is rear visibility when the top is up.

Nice,

I wanted a spyder but the Misses didn't like the extra work involved with lowering the top vs the 20 second one touch. A cobb tune makes these quite fast as well.

Best luck with it.

The top is a bit of a PITA but I love the look. My goal is zero mods. OK. I did have them put clear corners on it. does that count?

You should be happy with a 964 cab and I would recommend not paying too much attention to AC. Both systems can work fine if in good condition and overall I find the 964 quite comfortable and modern (I was driving a 3.2 before). Be careful with rear seats, 92+ models don't have them and it's a bit of work to find/install some.

Took it to go to work this morning, great way to start the day.
