964 radio install Becker Audio Continental

Recently installed a Continental head from Becker Audio. The BT works awesome and totally reframed the car for me. Just took it on a 600 mile work trip yesterday (took the long way) and was great to have a modern unit and streaming. The head mic is so so for phone calls. Install wasn't bad. It's shallow so there was more room for the wiring behind it. Probably the best improvement you can make to a 964 for $271. :)https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...83b9902da.jpeg

Much agreed! I had mine put in last week and it really cleaned up the interior and sounds great. Well worth the price!

I have this on my 993 and Love It. Works Great as it Should. Definitely Worth It!

Fits right into the interior. Where did you buy yours? I can't seem to find a north american retailer.

protip: you can buy just the knobs from the porsche classic radio and modify them slightly, they'll fit the continental radio and match a bit better than the included chrome knob. I believe the PN is 911.645.295.00

Look it up so i'm not posting his email. Tom is more tech than sales but he's very helpful.

Did any of you buy a specific pigtail for it, or does it plug and play with the factory harness.

How's the DIY install on this if you've never installed one before?

Any idea if this has a provision for an external mic? Not seeing it in the spec. I have a Blaupunkt Toronto 420BT with an external mic mounted on my clam shell and it works quite well but I like the look of these better.

Great, I have that on my short term todo list. Are you using the stock Blaupunkt BQA 80 amp? Still on original speakers?

It has a plug coming off the back of the radio. It comes with an external mic you can mount on the dash. I just use the mic located on the face in my Cabrio. I like the radio, my only complaint is it doesn't quite have enough juice to power the speakers with the top down. I also havent installed the rear speakers yet so maybe thats part of the problem. All in all I like mine, the bluetooth stereo and phone functions are simple and easy to use plus it looks like it is supposed to be there unlike other aftermarket units.

As far as the install goes it just like installing any other DIN stereo.

Nice, thanks for the info.

You can also disassemble the knob, remove the chrome ring, paint matte black and reinstall. I found that a simpler solution than trying to modify one of the HVAC temp knobs to fit.
