Gently pry them using a flat bladed screw driver, they just snap into place.

And with good reason, each cover costs $110.00!

Once I get the cover off the speaker, I need to determine if the speaker is actually blown or if it's something that I can easily remedy.
If I need to replace them, I will just use the Porsche ones from Suncoast

If you end up using these, please let me know what you think of the upgrade.

I did this upgrade with the suncoast kit recently (I also did the rears) - very straightforward.
Speakers themselves are nothing to write home about, but are modern materials and fit well. I'm sure for the price, with careful research, you could put together something nicer from the aftermarket, but I think this gets you 80% there with 20% of the hassle.
The one hiccup I had was that my front speaker order didn't include retaining rings for the grills (they're separate in the kit, vs. the integrated into the speakers in the originals). I didn't bother to follow up with suncoast, I just ordered a pair from my local porsche dealer. You may want to confirm w/suncoast that the grill retaining rings are included. (911.555.671.01)
A few other pointers:
- Popping off the front grills was straightforward and they were pretty robust. The rears were equally straightforward, but the grills were less robust - I cracked one slightly removing it.
- The tweeter<->mid wiring harness feels like a snug fit but I was able to snake through the door by just taping the old cable to the new.
- You will want a very short screwdriver to reach the bottom speaker screws if you don't want to disassemble your door pockets. I used something like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Neiko-030...-Set/192420430

Good point about the door pockets. I found it significantly easier to remove/replace the speakers with the pockets removed. Removing the pockets is trivial and if the black plastic is cracked it’s a good time to install the supports sold here on Rennlist.

Thanks nrh for all the tips, I really appreciate the advice. Yes, I am sure there are better speakers out there as I would think there are also better radios, too. I had the Porsche Classic Radio installed when I bought the car. For the little bit I will use the sound system, I thought better to stay with Porsche products which are made specifically for our cars than trying to find a "high-end" alternative that would be more money and more hassle. Having the car locked away in a Manhattan parking garage and the considerable rainfall this spring, I have not had much time or opportunity to figure all of this out. Thanks again to all.
