Getting PPI done on my first 964...fingers crossed
Long time reader, first time poster here!
Childhood dream of owning a 964 has become one step closer...getting a PPI done on my first 964 tomorrow. (Found suggested shop from searching recommendations on this forum)
I have to admit it is a little nerve racking as I'm in NYC and the car is in Texas but so far both consignment dealer and shop have been fantastic about coordinating. Headache #1 avoided.
I've been casually looking for the past few years at the 964, pretty much sweeping the internet of all the information I can soak up on 964s before ever making a decision on one, between this forum and other related sites. The treasure trove of info is vast and I love it. This forum is a life saver.
This would not be a daily since my wife and I live in Manhattan and don't use a car for commuting. Would be for seasonal weekend fun/trips.
As for the car, it's a 1993 C4 manual with 128k on the clock. I already know going into it that it has a very minor accident on CarFax in 2015 due to a truck tire scrapping side of left rear quarter panel and owner subsequently did a full repaint. Price does reflect such history. Doesn't scare me much as I would love for this to be a forever car, not looking for an investment, just want to make sure all the panels look good. A/C doesn't blow cold either. That's the extent I know if the major things so far. Engine does not leak.
Service history is spotty but that's why I pulled the trigger on the PPI, especially since I can't see the car in person. Call me crazy for working this way for my first 964, but the color combo is right (black on black) and already has the go fast goodies I'd put on the car over time (Steve Wong chip, H&R springs, Bilstein struts, looks like it has a cat bypass as well) and it's located in the same town my dog was rescued from 3 years ago. So "fate" spoke to me (barf).
I certainly know that everything could fall through in an instant, so while I am in good spirits about it, I fully accept this could not happen. Fingers crossed!

What good is a thread without photos right?
A few crappy photos attached.
Original seats are included, steering wheel is not. Would most likely replace with OEM airbag wheel for safety reasons. Those are fifteen52 Outlaw wheels, only set that is included.

Good luck!
I love those wheels and I still debate getting a set, alas I would have to sell the RUF’s I just bought and not sure I want to do that!
Hope it all works out and you post more pics when you receive it!

Have you looked at any other 964s? Actually driven one?
There's a fairly large community around here, especially north of the city in Westchester/Fairfield. We'll probably have four or five black-on-black 964s at Caffeine and Carburetors in 2 weeks.
Also, not saying you shouldn't buy this car, but there are a few things in the photos that make me a little hesitant - so the PPI is a very good idea.

What pops out to you on the photos?
And yes, the PPI was always important to me due to it being far away.
Haven't been to that Caffeine and Carburetors up there yet but it has always been on my radar.

Accident history is a show stopper for me. Personally, I don’t mind if it’s repaired well but I also don’t keep cars forever and I know that would be a bargaining chip for most people to beat me up on the price . You said you’re planning to keep it for a long time so this car might be absolutely perfect for your needs.
A friend sent me a link to the car today - I think it’s stunning
