Hoarder vs. Help the Community
The ironic thing about keeping porsche parts is they tend to appreciate, and based on the rate porsche is increasing prices maybe better than many investment :-)
Here's the issue: I have a garage full of take off parts. Specifically my 964 which is highly, highly modded (see thread below!), I mean i have: full full braking system, suspension/dampers, nearly full interior/seats, body parts, wing, bumper bits, diff, shifter, wing, etc etc etc. Its a pile.
So do I hold a massive garage sale, or hoard them?
Reality is, unlike my GT3RS which some day may return to stock (that I have a rack full of parts for), this car is never going back, its too far destroyed by yours truly... my 89 is similar, handful of OEM parts but its a 100% stock car.
Dilemma

With my air cooled VWs and the Porsche it seems any part I sell turns out to be needed later, but sometimes that space was needed. It will be a pain to garage sale that many parts, but I've always found meeting other enthusiasts to be a net positive. Best of luck making that decision. I'd swing by a physical garage sale, just to see all the cool bits even if I didn't need anything.

This also plagues the E30 M3 community. When the cars were plentiful, used parts were inexpensive. As the price of the cars soared, so did the used parts prices. I'm also in the dilemma with a basement full of E30 M3 parts.

My usual advice is keep the parts, however I’m conflicted with the talk of ‘wing’. When I come to Rennsport in September, I’m hoping to bring a spoiler assembly back to New Zealand with me. Just saying

Yeah. I ended up doing a garage clean out and reorganizing today. Because I feel like I have half a disassembled 964 in there. Not quite as many parts as you have, but seems close. I've boxed them up and wrapped things like seats in plastic and put them on the shelf. I can't imagine I'll be returning the car to stock. But as its not my forever car, I assume the future owner will want them...

I do both.... I hoard parts as I know they are not getting easier to find and I will need them in the future. I am also blessed with a large amount of storage, so I don't have the same space constraints many enthusiasts face. With that said I constantly monitor my hoard and when I have duplicates or triplicates of a part I will offer them up. My other BIG exception is that if I have a friend or fellow enthusiast and they desperately need a part I will usually help them out as people have done the same for me. It's good Porsche karma!
As it relates to parts connected to a particular car I am firm believer that the parts belong to the car, so if I modify one of my cars I carefully save all the original parts. If I ever sell the car I either return it to stock or provide the next buyer all the original parts, I feel like that is the right thing to do. I HATE when I see someone selling original parts off a car once they have sold the car and those parts rightfully belong to the car. For example obvious stuff like tool kits and manuals, COME on! How tacky, give it to your buyer as part of the deal.
With your car being heavily modified and if you don't think you will ever return it to stock, then sell them off if you want/need the space or $$.

If space in the garage is no issue: hoard them. Not because of the future owner but it psychologically makes me feel good to know that i have them.

Storage is an issue for me. I posted a lot of parts here recently and no one really wants them. YMMV. Anyone here want a pair of secondary mufflers, cat, and assorted under car hardware?

chris, keep them, i will charge you high rent to store.
i must have thrown away close to $100k of GT3 parts. i hate giving things out for free and dont like to collect parts. i help build landfill.

Keeping an eye on the wanted section and selling stuff as interest appears an option for you?
this is my strategy for getting a fair value paid for the stuff laying around.
selling stuff that nobody want’s at the moment is usually not a good idea. At a later moment someone will be looking for a part you have in stock. As original used parts are hard to find you can get a decent price and help a fellow enthousiast
