Default Door Strap Kit and Modification

After seeing a few cracked door skins around the door strap mechanism (I had my ex 993 door strap tear repaired, it was $1100) I decided to do some preventative maintenance. So, I installed the door strap kit to spread the load. I also trimmed the rubber blocks to reduce the roller tension. The door swings easy, with a small amount of resistance at full swing. Fitting the inside plate is like doing a magic ring puzzle, but it eventually goes in. John Mc described it as "money on a typewriter"!

Tip of the day: tie floss to the inside bracket...if you drop it between the door skins...I followed the tip, phew

This is a good idea. I heard a "clicking" in my door and discovered a very small crack forming. I also discovered the bolts were loose. Tightened the bolts and the clicking stopped. Found loose bolts on the passenger side as well but tightened them up before any damaged occurred. So, MY tip of the day, take a second and put a wrench on your door strap bolts on a regular basis.
