Misfunction on the retractable spoiler wing
Hello there
The wing on my 1991 C2 is not working properly.
First, the alarm light on the dash board does not always comes up when turning the ignition on. Sometimes it comes up, sometimes y does not.
Second, and most important, the wing does not go down neither when the car slows down or when it stops. When I turn the ignition off, I can hear a clicking by the right foot floor, probably a relay, and the wings stays up. Either with ignition on or off, I must turn the wing **** down to lower the wing, then the clicking stops and the wings goes down. If I release the **** half way, the clicking comes back and the wings stops.
What should I look for?
Thanks,

The clicking is the spoiler relay/control module, you probably need to adjust one of the limit switches that are under the spoiler transmission cover
Also note that if the spoiler is making a grinding noise you need to replace the bearing in the spoiler transmission before the motor burns out (amhik) Dont rely on the fuse to protect the motor in case..it doesnt always blow..

My spoiler acts similar the research I’ve done here on Rennlist points toward the spoiler controller being bad not the limit switches. Maybe Tove or Loren will chime in and verify this

Calling ToreB!!
Maybe there should be a ToreB signal (like the bat signal ) whenever problems show up!
The reason I suggested limit switch is that the manual control erases the problem but then what the hell do I know..

I’m with you on this brother I am not 100% either but at one time mine worked until the clicking relay showed up 😁
I like your Tore bat signal idea 👍

I had problems with this years ago on my 1990 C2. I opened up the controller and on close examination I found some broken solder joints where the connector is soldered to the board. I reflowed the joints using a soldering iron and haven’t had another issue.

Bat signal received!
As mentioned above, I guess this is a problem with the control unit. It might be solder faults between the horiontal and vertical PCB's inside. You could also check the limit switches in the spoiler mechanism.
It might be something more serious as burnt relay contacts or something, but this can certainly be fixed.
Cheers,
Tore

Imagine your sitting in the passenger seat it is right above your feet. It is a plastic grey box about the size of a pack of cigs it is sitting in a metal L shaped bracket with small philips head screw securing it on the bracket the electrical connection attaches to the end of the controller
all this assumes you have left hand drive carbif it is a right hand drive I don’t know but maybe in the same location opposite side.
