Happy to report that we now have the first batch of the new 9mRS Billet Upright in stock and will be sending them out this week, as seen in the photo below.The 9m CNC machined billet uprights are made from high strength, solid HE30 (6082-T6) and are a direct replacement for the original 993RS components, having the same dimensions and resultant geometry. Nice one Colin, can't beat a good bit of billet machining, have you approached Singer about supplying them as I had to lend out my original brand new uprights to use on their new car test mule

I've got a racy bit I designed on a machine now, started with 26kg billet and should end with a 500g bit of swarf to fit to the race car when its all been whittled away by the CNC fairies

I'm interested in a set of track rods when you get round to them

Very nice, Sir. With bearings I weighed the standard upright at 6 lbs. 4 oz. I'm guessing these uprights are similar in weight to the stock RS uprights, or even a few ounces lighter, but I'll need to know the weight of the bearings to be sure. The BBI uprights are rather stout and weigh in at 7 lbs. 3.6 oz. with bearings, roughly one pound heavier than the stock uprights (non RS version).

Well, in theory these are identical to the original in terms of overall dimensions, hence unless aluminium has significantly differing densities between cast and extruded (sic) they should weigh the same as the factory part. That said, we have a 3D model of the 9m Upright on SolidWorks so should there be a demand for a lighter unit I would be happy to have the model FEA optimised for a "race" version. All you need to do is ask, but let me sell these first, ok?

Proof of the pudding: the 9mRS upright with bearing and hub fitted. Both 993 and 993 calipers and discs fit the upright with either 964 or 993 hubs. On the subject of hubs, I noted that whilst PET lists a different hub for the 993RS compared to the standard 993 and the 964, the stock hub from both these models will fit, but do ensure that you fit all the matching ABS ring and centre bolt from the hub assembly that you choose. For reference the 964 ABS ring locates in the bearing, whereas the 993 ABS ring locates inside the hub because the bearing shaft part of the hub is deeper.

M8x35 bolts will be required to hold down the bearing cover, either use a generic metric bolt (as photo) or order new 993 bolts from Porsche under part number 999.217.042.09. For the record the wheel bearing is 999.053.041.03, same on all models.

Thanks for your interest. The 9mRS Uprights are supplied in an as-machined finish which will naturally oxidise in use, like the factory cast parts.

The RS upright conversion on a standard narrow bodied 964 is done to improve the kinematics (dynamic geometry) by reducing bump steer on a lowered car. You have two options:

a) use a mix of 964 & 993 components with narrower track with limited camber:
9mRS Uprights
964 wheel hub & ABS ring
993RS Steering Arms (machined to reduce length)
993 lower ball joint
Modified 964 lower arms (wishbones) with 993 ball joint fixings

b) use all 993 components for wider track and increased camber
9mRS Uprights
964 wheel hub & ABS ring
993RS Steering Arms (or GT2 Evo version when available)
993 lower ball joint
993 wishbone
993 sub frame laterals

Both set ups can run 993 discs and calipers, 993RS discs with Big Red calipers or (randomly) 993RS discs with 964RS/965 Turbo 3.3 calipers.
My recommendation for the rear is to run 993 rear calipers on 964RS discs.

If the standard 964C2 master cylinder is retained the brake pedal will be "long" due to the increase in fluid displacement to the larger calipers, hence the normal upgrade is to fit the 993 master cylinder and servo. On a C4 with booster brakes the brake master cylinder seems to be ok. The ultimate brake package would be to upgrade to the 993RS 4 channel system, however since that's ridiculously expensive now we're developing a more affordable 4 channel system to use with the 993C2 servo & master cylinder. More on this later.

Enough for fast road use, around 1.5 to 2 degrees from memory. With the 993 side frames you can get up to 2.5 degrees, more with the 993RS adjustable top mounts.
