Default RWB 964 on Bring a Trailer

Unlike a lot of these, it actually has a motor to match the looks. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...1-carrera-4-6/

These are still nothing more than a cheap overpriced hack job people seem to love. If you know anything about body work you would never let him touch your car.

BaT pulled the car from auction due to unresolved PPI issues. I am not surprised that the car had issues - build quality and attention to detail/maintenance seem to be an afterthought with these cars. All about looks (which are certainly subjective and polarizing).

After a lengthy discussion with the seller about the PPI that was conducted last week, we have decided to withdraw this listing for now. The seller sent us a receipt from today showing that he attempted to repair the issues associated with the illuminated brake and diff lights. The shop was unable to do so, and the seller needs more time to investigate potential problems with the AWD system. We are not comfortable with the possibility that the winning bidder might be confronted with trouble along these lines, and we look forward to the car being re-listed once the issues have been addressed. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this might have caused, and we appreciate your support of the site.

Best,
BaT
Sounds like the type of C4 PDAS issues folks on here discuss and resolve on a periodic basis. Should not be a show stopper.

What was the high bid? $69k? With less than a day left on the auction?

They probably made up (or exaggerated) the mechanical issues in order to stop the auction and keep the '$150k asking price FS listing, RWB Math' fallacy alive.

Letting the auction play out and end up way south of $100k might have lost the RWB brand some future conversion business.

This. So much so. These cars seem to be built by people who really love them. But then there are the speculators. Seeing as this was a SEMA car, I have to imagine it's the latter

that about sums it up and further illustrates why BAT has lost all credibility. Nothing more than an over glorified eBay motors.

It's worth less than a stock car in my mind but I highly doubt RWB is in cahoots with BAT.

I totally agree. I do not see what people see in these. In person they are awful. The jobs done on these are just horrible and people are willing to pay so much for them. I even heard someone at a C&C comparing one to a Singer. Clearly he had no idea what he was talking about.

What's wrong with a 964 just being a 964? Why does it need to be a long hood backdate with bespoke everything, or the polar opposite body kit monstrosity with rear spoilers reaching the ionosphere and tires that say "idlers", whatever that means? The 964 is perfect the way Porsche designed it! Yes, it is fun to make changes to suit your taste, but I think it can be done without sacrificing the 964 ethos. It's a sublime Porsche that is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
