What's your built date vs sold date
Hello Turbo Friends
The built date of my 1992 964 C2 Turbo 07/27/1991, When I pulled a Carfax , the first registration date was May of 1994, which indicates that it sat at the dealer for a while before it was sold,
I was a rep for Porsche in So Cal back in 1992-1993 alot of 964's sat in the show room floor because Porsche was about to release the 993 in 1994 as a 1995 model and at a reduced price compared to the 964. A 964 C2 coupe $70-78 K and the new comparable 993 was $58- $62 K ,

Interesting, I would have never guessed that the 993 costed that much less than the equivalent 964. I know Porsche had changed their manufacturing process but that’s a significant difference.

My Canada delivered '89 C4 was manufactured in March 1989, invoiced on 06 April 1989, delivered to the dealer on 23 May 1989 and sold on 21 November 1989.

Yes the 993 costed less than the 964 but I think the difference in US was bigger than i Germany due to a relatively weak D-Mark (German currency) late 1994 and untill mid 1996?

At least the sun roof was a no cost standard fitment on the 993 in the US!

Many late MY Porsche's sat at the dealership for years back then. I recall a red America roadster and a silver 928GTS that sat for at least 2 years before selling at one dealership alone and we had 6 around me at the time. Selling Porsche's was not an ideal job back then. The newer automated production line and just in time parts delivery did lower build costs over the 964 considerably. The price was less but many no cost options were now being charged for. Special order paints were offered at no additional cost but required a signed contract and deposit for the 964 but were an additional charge for the 993 to name one. Also the 95 993 had a lot of 964 parts still being used and were upgraded in 1996 when pricing was bumped.
