can you help me understand what is in your AFM/airbox kit? The claimed 20-50 hp seems really big. Even if we assume the low end of 20 hp, what are you changing with an airbox? there is only so much air and fuel you can get into the engine without changing the exhaust side. Is this a wheel hp figure? or some calculation you are using? (if so, what is it?)

$20hp for $1800 is actually pretty cheap if its a real #.

Our mass airflow kit contains a factory 964 air box upgraded with a mass air flow meter, air intake temperature sensor, BMC Race Filter. The kit includes customizable FVD software for your specific requirements and the addition of the mass air flow meter and temp. sensor.

Gains in performance can range from + 15 to + 20 Hp on a stock car and up to + 50 Hp on a car with sport exhaust (with 100 cell or bypass catalytic's). Power is stated at the crank like Porsche.

thanks. what parasitic loss calculation are you using to come up with a fly wheel HP value? I assume your testing is on a chassis dyno, not an engine dyno, right?

Matt, I will check with the engineers in Germany for you on Monday and will get back to you on that.

On a personal note, I have been selling these to quite a few race teams (mainly east coast) throughout the years with good success. Many swear by them.

I’ve driven a 964 with this kit. Really wakes the car up. Much better throttle response too.

Rhonda,
Anyone use this on a 3.8 liter conversion?
Would FVD be willing to make changes to programming during tuning as my engine has yet to be installed? My engine builder wanted to know as my install parameters may need to be changed to tune optimally.
I've already purchased a Wong chip but (as Matt said) if this produces an extra 20 to 50 horsepower, if would be reasonable price for the power gain.
Thanks
Ed

eddie,
with an extreme engine build like yours, why wouldn't you consider forgoing the MAF and going with a 1 bar MAP sensor? I'd imagine that combined with modern injectors and standalone would produce better results than a MAF optimized for 3.6L...

Matt,

Per Mr. Kuric, our lead software engineer, "LB2 Kit was developed many years ago on engine dyno. Updates are also tested on chasis dyno or even with Insoric. All of them showing approx. same power and torque gains."

In Germany they refer to the mass air kit as an LB2, also the insoric that he is referring to is a real world test that we also like to use in Germany in addition to a chassis or engine dyno...

Ed,

Absolutely, we sell 5 different Mahle 3.8 L kits for the 964 and we have installed our mass air kit on all of them. We would be happy to do that, we can send the Mass Air Flow kit with a base chip meant for all of your modifications and then send another chip after you give us feedback with air/fuel off the dyno, etc. When ever you place an order with us for software you receive all of our engineers contact information so your shop can directly communicate with them on the necessary adjustments.

We also sell the RSR ITB kits from the original supplier to POMO if you are interested....

Thanks,
Rhonda
