So we can compare everyones figures a little better, I've found out the weight of fuel and water, which surprised me!

1 liter of petrol (gas) weighs 0.75 kg or 1.65 lb
1 liter of water weighs 1 kg or 2.2 lb

The 964 workshop manual lists the following capacities:
Fuel tank = 77 liters
Windshield & headlight washer reservoir = 7.4 liters
Intensive washing = 0.7 liters

So on this basis...

Full tank of gas is nearly 58 kg or 127 lb
Half a tank would be around 29 kg or 64 lb
Quarter of a tank approximately 14 kg or 32 lb
Washer reservoir is 7.4 kg or 16 lb

Removing the washer reservoir in favor of the intensive reservoir is a quick 8 kg saving, happy days

George thank you for that info. As we gather more weights I’m going to compile them on the first page so we have something to reference. I need to figure out how to break up the grouping, modified or stock and then by the different types of configurations (Coupe, Targa, Cab). I’ll deduct the fuel weight so every car is equal.

Regarding the intensive washer bottle;
I looked at the weight difference on the Rose Passion web site;
The big bottle plus the extra pump is 1.25kg
the small intensive wash bottle is 0.3 KG,
so difference is less than 0.9 kg
if you prefer less things in your front boot, jus file the big bottle with only 1L of washing liquid and bare with the 0.9 kg extra,
and if it rains a lot and you need to wash often your screen, you still have the option of filling with more liquid so you don't have to feill it often....
otherwise you could convert to the small bottle, the parts are about 160€ plus labour if you have it done,
on 1992 and onward cars the welded bracket is not on, so you will have to make one.

Regarding weigh saving and If you like a king of rear wing;
I found and old advert on the forum from someone saling a FRP RSA tail and deck lid,
he had a picture with it on a scale, the lot was waiting 4kg versus 10,5 kg for the original, so 6,5 kg saving, not bad !
Also no anymore worries of the electric wing not working or any expensive maintenance related to it,

Just had new suspenders installed, so a corner balance was done.

Weight comes in at 2992 with 1/4 tank of fuel (about 5 gallons.)

As weighed:
1990 C2 with sunroof and 8 way power seats.
Spare, tools and air compressor, carpets all in car when weighed.
Dual airbags
Cup 1 Wheels (I think? Still no expert here.)
KW Supsension
Sport Cat

Otherwise stock, so far as weight related items go.

My problem is that I tend to fill everything up to the max, which will make a big difference to the weight saving...
Currently I do not track my car, I'm just trying to achieve a better power to weight ration and it's cheaper to lose weight than it is to gain power
I believe UK cars came with the below options as standard, but don't quote me on that
M286 - intensive window washing
M288 - headlamp wash

My car has both and I plan to remove the headlamp wash function, fill the holes and remove the large water tank and plumbing.
Aiming for an RS spec'd C4, also have plans to replace bonnet and decklid with light weight carbon items
Slippery slope this modification lark

Hi George ,
Same boat, I had a full rebuild by previous owner 80 k(km) ago and she still feels strong,
I recently did the maths to build a performance engine and its quite a lot of money to achieve it, the way I want it, maybe next year....
For now as you, I am on a mission saving weight,
Apparently there is a lot of weight to save with aftermarket bumpers, I am finding out how much could be saved at the moment.
CF bonnet, Lithium battery and removing the spare wheel, that lot will save you around 36 kg not bad, for what it cost too.

Are the aftermarket bumpers still good functioning bumpers? How is this accomplished?

Interesting - Ok, I'll play here is a picture of the weight scale for my car when I had it corner balanced last year. I have modified a lot on the car in cutting weight as I figured that every 100 lbs cut was equal to a 10 HP gain. Biggest single gain was in removing the CAB top system completely and replacing with a custom fiberglass top weighing 18lbs. The changes, removal or replace with lighter has gotten my car down to 2574 lbs ( 1167 Kg) and that is with 150 lbs for driver and 3/4 a fuel tank ( figure 10 gals@6lbs) so empty my car should be around 2364 lbs (1074 Kg)

Several years ago, we did a C2 for a client that finished up at 2346 lbs (with 50% fuel) and with its 335 BHP and close-ratio gearbox, it was a pretty good ride.

Steve, that sounds like Kai's car.
