Tan interior to tobacco?

I notice a lot of people don't love the tan interior. { me included} . But, i have seen some really cool darker, tobacco colored brown leather interiors on other cars. Would be interesting if somebody could dye the leather a tobacco color before they totally strip and switch over to black.

Dye doesn't really do it. If you even consider it, do the right way by re-doing the interior. Love dark brown interior!

My 997 had a dark brown interior (don't recall what it was called when I ordered it, maybe Mocha) and I thought it was gourgeous, really nice rich colour, and didn't show dirt like lighter Tan. I was planning on re-doing a set of un-upholstered sport seats I have in my garage in a colour of this I found from Spineeybeck, and then doing my car with a combination of basket weave and smooth like I've seen done in a few cars here. However since I'm considering selling the 964 at this point that probably won't happen.

Sure you can. I'm coming up on 13 years without a touch-up. I documented my process here. I also redyed my carpet.

Those look amazing!

Ramans.. what are you gonna replace the 964 with?

ramans 01-09-2018 04:47 PM

Well it's not a replacement, but I picked up a 981 Cayman S for track duties as the '71 911 has become a little too dear to continue using it on the track regularly (it goes into semi-retirement). Then a friend made me an offer I couldn't refuse and I ended up buying another 981 Boxster S (I've missed having a convertible since I sold the 997 C4S several years back) now that I've got 4 in the garage the 964 is feeling a little superfluous. I love the car but it's a little hard to justify keeping all four of them at this point in time.

That said the car is in really great shape, it had a fresh engine rebuild about 7K miles ago and I have the leak down and dyno sheets for it, it's super strong. I just had almost all of the fueling system replaced (neck, tank, and lines to the back) chasing a fuel smell that turned out to be the lines that run down the middle to the right front of the engine compartment, so I have a bit invested in it, so the rub is I want to get somewhere close to what I put into it back out of it which will also mean it'll go up for the higher end of what we see the cars listing at right now.
