Out with the old

In with the new!
Replaced the fuel filter today. The old one was stamped 1992! So unless it was replaced 1 year from new my car is not a 1991 as i thought. I'll have to do some research.

Good thing to do- my filter sprung a leak due to age! It was a scary moment. I had to coast down a mountain range in the middle of the night to get to where I could make a call. Not fun.

Oh man now that sounds like a nightmare! That's my greatest fear with the car. I wasn't surprised to see mine was original but kind of hard to believe it worked after 26 years! I wanto get everything up to scratch and keep it there as it seems my car has had bugger all maintenance. Like you just shared, I'd hate something like that to happen.

Also shows how important it is to have a fire extinguisher, that could have been alot worse. I'll have to look into one.

The black on the bumpers looks excellent, nice work!

I’ve been eying my fuel filter too, I have no idea when it was last changed and I’m assuming it was done when the engine was out but you know what they say about assuming things. . It looks like you did some detailing while you were at it.

Thankyou my friend!

See if there is a date on It, I couldn't beleive mine was 26 years old! Definately a piece of mind thing!

Yes, every time I go out to the shed I end up cleaning something! Lucky I enjoy It!

What about spraying plasti-dip on that tail? Then if you didn’t like it you could always just peel it off and if you decide to keep- it looks more like rubber.

Hey Pete, I didn't think of that, I've heard guys talk about it on here but never seen it, does it last long term? I'm having a bit of a think about it. I wanto put a ducktail or standard lid on anyway.

I’ve never tried it so I can’t say how long it lasts. Just kinda thinking out loud. If your hesitant about spraying paint it would be a good way to get an idea of how it would look. If you liked it you could strip it off and do a semigloss black.

There was an average Black one on Facebook for USD 350. I'll see if I can find the ad.

Here is the ad. No affiliation.

My experience is pay up for the whole package. Even small parts missing add up quickly.
