Default DAB Radio in a 964?

Can anyone recommend a DAB radio for a UK 964?

I'm looking to swap out my old Alpine FM unit (connected to the now-defunct windscreen aerial!).

I'm all for period correctness, except in the realm of infotainment!

The Porsche Classic system looks good. I just can't quite get my head round the £1000 ticket price!

Those Kienzle heads look great.

I'm also going to investigate this Continental unit: https://www.bergvillfx.com/index.php...7418ub-or.html

Clarion is coming out with a car audio version of this in January / February of 2018. https://www.waterskimag.com/clarion-m508

If the price is reasonable it’s likely what I’ll get as it checks off everything I want in a head unit and has the right looks for our cars. It’s about time one of the bigger suppliers came out with something like this to serve the classic European car market.

I got me the Continental unit referenced above.

It does everything I need it to, without being big and heavy and it is very affordable. It blends in nicely with the interior too. All in all, I can mot see what could be better in the market today. I believe DAB is possible with some of the VDO/Continental head units.

Thanks for the reference to our Continental 7418 unit.
DAB is indeed spreading worldwide now, especially in Europe, Australia and NZ. In Norway we even have shut down all FM transmissions, with full DAB+ coverage.
The Porsche Classic radio unfortunately has no DAB tuner.
Cheers,
Tore

I also have the Continental and I'm in the UK. Works well even with the crappy aerial sellotaped to the windscreen! I'll post a picture cos it looks quite period. I kept all original speakers but have hidden a small sub woofer under the dash. BTW does anyone know how to connect the Continental aerial to the actual aerial in the windscreen?

It is not possible to use the FM windscreen antenna as a DAB antenna without major rework.
The 964/993 FM antenna is equipped with a active antenna amplifier, which is a very good filter for frequencies higher than about 100Mhz. DAB operates on around 200MHz, and you will have better reception leaving the DAB antenna disconnected than plugging it into the FM cable.
Cheers,
Tore

Got my Continental DAB Radio professionally fitted yesterday. Very pleased with the result - both aesthetically and technically.
Looks very 1990 to my eye, but with digital radio, bluetooth telephony, etc.
Tore B is a real enthusiast who certainly knows his stuff. Highly recommended.
