There’s a lot of truth to this. I bought my Targa sight unseen which for me is not something I would consider, especially after getting burned once in the past. But after spending hours speaking with the seller, many very specific pictures and a PPI I felt comfortable and pulled the trigger.

Don’t be shy about asking questions and if the answers don’t sound good move on.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks for all the advise on the car. I’ve decided to pass on this one.

Looks like a Virginia State Inspection sticker on the center of the windshield. I would want to see pics of the car before the damage to the rear was fixed after the track incident.

Yeahs it’s in SW Virginia. The owner doesn’t have jack s**t for documentation of the damage or subsequent repairs. And based on the pictures I can’t even justify driving 8+ hours to look at it. I think this car would have to be free to justify the potential huge restoration expense.

Just saw your thread and looked at the pictures before reading the thread and the first thing that caught my eye was the lack of stickers inside the rear lid and also that the latch mechanism had red paint on it. I think it was a wise choice to pass on this car without any documentation.

If there's no pics of the damage, no documents or history on the car, it's a $30-35k car tops; to a knowledgeable buyer probably less. The car might sell for $40k to someone who doesn't know any better, and maybe the market for coupes is that strong but I don't think so.

It's got known accident history that wasn't recorded; it's done time on the track; and any paint mismatch may take a year or so to reveal itself. It would be a way to get into a coupe until something better comes along, but if you've got the budget for a better car then hold out for one.

The market is to the point this is a $30-35K car? That's good for those of us who have nicer ones.

That's my .02, but as hot as 964 coupes are it will probably sell for more
