964 Replacement rear deck grill with mesh or stainless steel
Hi Everyone. I was wondering if there is a source for a replacement rear deck grill for a 964, in either metal mesh or stainless steel slats? Any ideas? Thanks.

I have a complete OEM rear deck lid spoiler that has the black plastic grill attached (painted black). Not sure if that does anything for you, but if it does let me know.

Mike, thanks for that. I am looking to replace only the grill section with something other than the OEM black plastic piece. Looking for a wire mesh or stainless steel equivalent. Thanks anyway.

The grill is boned-in, so it's not easy to get out....

I stopped looking into it when I discovered that it's not so easy to remove the grill from the decklid. I think it's bonded-in???
Regardless, Al Kosmal is the guy to contact regarding the grill. He posts a lot over at Pelican, and I think this is a link to his company:

Greetings.......I make the perf engine lid grilles and, if anyone is interested, I can make the rear, reflector area grille for you. Please visit my website to review my current grilles, etc. and feel free to contact me to discuss and interest you might have.........

I am sure I have seen something fairly recently (within the last 2 months on Rennlist) about a project to do the exact same thing that you want to do. I have done a search but cannot find a thread with a similar theme as yours. I think that they had trouble removing the existing plastic grille because it was bonded on! It must have been mentioned within a thread with a different original title! Someone may see your thread and know which other thread the subject was mentioned in hopefully. Good luck!

I was gonna post a link to that thread but got beat to the punch . If someone finds a way, let me know. I've already donated one decklid to the cause

The explanation from Al makes sense, but it seems to me that we keep seeing all the backdates and Singer style resto-mods with a chrome insert on 964 lift spoiler...or am I mistaken?
