Default Oil additives

hi!

has anyone ever used oil additives during oil changes in the 964 or 993?
i have a couple of bottles of Schaefer Moly E. P. that are supposed to “do wonders” (see link http://www.schaefferoil.com/documents/37-132-td.pdf ).

do you add anything to your oil or good oil is enough?

cheers

My thought on additives is there are a lot more well running engines on the road that never ran additional additives than those that did. It may not cause problems, and it may not 'do wonders'.

I run just straight oil, no additives. I got 237K out of my engine before I rebuilt it. The valve guides were worn but the bearings and rings were in good shape.

Is there a specific problem or concern you are trying to fix?

Use a quality full synthetic oil. Change every 5,000 miles, or at least yearly (for low use cars). You don't need additives.

Since many oils do not have sufficient levels of zinc, a ZDDP additive isn't a bad idea if you have a lower zinc oil

Oil leaks !

Not really.
I just changed the oil with a Pennzoil 20W-50 (the cheapest) and I used the cheapest because... https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...l#post14616754

I think it's still a good oil. I just happened to have a bottle of this treatment that I used once on the NSX and I was wondering if I should throw it away or try it .

I use good oil, but I like to add "vitamins" and change it often...

I've been using Brad Penn 20/50 for years, but a recent service garage change means I'm using Motul 15/50 V300 now.
I then add a can of Liqui Moly MoS2 Anti-Friction Engine Treatment after my engine burns through a 1/2 quart of oil: https://products.liqui-moly.us/addit...treatment.html
I do a complete oil change after 3,000 miles.
A couple tanks before I'm due to change the oil again, I add Liqui Moly Valve Cleaner OR Liqui Moly Jectron Fuel Injection Cleaner to the gas tank: https://products.liqui-moly.us/addit...ct-media-modal

I did read the post but it still did not make it clear if the product is or or not a try.

No oil additives for me.

I use a good oil that contains what I need since additives require different chemistries to balance the effects of such things.
