Are there any bits of your car that will not be carbon fibre? I guess the weight will be substantially lower than standard?

Are you planning to produce and sell these parts that you'r making, or are they all one-off pieces?

There are pieces of the car that are not not carbon fiber or another alternative material such as aluminum, plastic or titanium. The exercise was not merely to replace steel components with carbon fiber or other materials just for the sake of doing so but to do those items that involved actual engineering and/or redesign (the doors, for example, for a quality producer of carbon fiber parts -- which, sadly, I have discovered are but very few and very far between -- were not done because they were not deemed to be anything out of the ordinary). Having said this, approximately 450 kg (992 pounds) have been removed from the weight of the vehicle and every part has been an improvement over the original. As to production, some of the technology used in this endeavor is about to be used for current vehicles and other items are in testing. As to applicability for older cars (in this instance, Type 964 and Type 993 Porsches), there are on-going discussions about this.

Over the past year I have been posting pictures although, frankly, there has been more interest on other boards. Should you wish, I would be happy to repost a few.

In the interim, four pictures of the carbon fiber/titanium swing arm with brake system and CV cooling, titanium centerlock system, carbon ceramic brake disks with aluminum bells with titanium mountings.

Wiring should be done by Tuesday -- 42+ pounds gone and counting. The final step has been to replace my beloved Porsche Pocket Commander with a built in Sony Ericsson P900 -- the electrical engineers continue to refer to the former as belonging to Fred F. rather than Ferry P.

Lastly, the new stereo weighs less than 15 pounds -- 3.7 less than that in the McLaren F1 Road Car -- and this system includes a radio.

Robert - fantastic stuff - please do post more photos...and a list of all the parts you have done & plan to do.

Is this your job or hobby? What kind of facilities and equipment is needed to do this?

wish i would have seen it - well time marches on and electronics get superseeded. :) and a Smart Phone (Moto MxP200) would make a good alternative as well (usuable WW)

With luck the Sony Ericsson P900 will be installed in the center console tomorrow.
