Had same deal deal a few years back. The would be thief also damaged my steering (turn signal) stalk. Door handle and lock, ignition, stalk - all covered.

It was a pain towing it with the steering locked towards the curb.

Pretty much the same here. Obviously I filed a claim; as vandalism it is covered by insurance minus the deductible, and does not affect your premium.
It will be interesting to see AAA get the car from the underground car park onto a flatbed with the wheels locked.
The car will get a new ignition system complete and keyed to the door and glove box, a new lower dash pad that was also damaged acting as a fulcrum for the screwdriver.

Not sure who can change the door handle locks in 30 minutes-in the dark-when I had the 993 handles put on it took a good deal longer from a well known Indie.

Hmmmmm.....was it one of the public structures in BH? I took my 964 up to the socal vintage bmw show sat. Went to BH for a little breakfast and parked in a public structure on Beverly blvd. didn't think twice about it...but do now..thanks fir the heads up.
