Default 964 battery charge from cigarette lighter

Because I don't drive my 964 often battery tends to discharge so I bought a Porsche dual mode battery maintainer that plugs into the cigarette lighter.

Is this meant to work with a 964 (1993)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I dont think the lighter socket is powered unless ignition switch is on, if you have the C-Tek (or Porsche branded C-Tek) they make a plug adapter to go direct to battery

The cigarette lighter has "power" with ignition off. I keep a $3 volt meter plugged in to monitor voltage while car is parked in garage.

I have the porche labeled battery maintainer plugged into the lighter and it keeps the battery maintained just fine that way.

Battery Tender is all you need. $25

Plugs into the cig lighter or you can hook it up to the battery.

Been using them for many years. Very pleased.

US yes, ROW no , is the answer. For some reason Porsche made it different in the states. yellow on one red the other, I changed the wiring over on mine.

I have Porsche maintainers for both of my cars. It works very well via the cigarette lighter socket. I have been using this for 10+ years.

I have the older version, the Porsche Charge-o-Mat which you can still score on eBay for ~ $50.

Works great. My battery was over 7 years old, and still at the top of it's game driven less than 2200 miles per year. I only replaced the battery because I was driving past the Deka factory and figured 7 years was old enough.
