Speedo smoked itself

Speedo smoked itself
My speedo died yesterday. Driving along and I saw it drop to 0, accompanied with a slight burning electrical odor.
I pulled it this morning and from the smell of it, and reading a few threads I'm guessing the circuit board has cooked itself.
It's the only gauge in the panel with a crackled gauge face, so it already needed work.
Anyone have this repair done recently?
If so who did the work, how much, and are you happy with the fix?
All constructive comments appreciated.

Mine did this last year.
I live in la so took to n Hollywood speedo
They repaired the board and replaced the gears (my odo worked just jumpy)
Cleaned and tested it
I think it was $150
The fix isn't hard it's 1 or 2 components that smoke.

Thanks Spyrex. I sent it to Specialty Gauge in VA. I had communicated with them about the gauge face (which is crackling) a couple months ago.
I used to use N Hollywood for everything, but I understand they've changed hands and don't do the custom work they used to. Not to bag on them in anyway. The main reason is time frame, NH is wrapped up and had quite a lead time.
I'll update when it gets back, so keep an eye out Salty

Interesting. I did this just a few months ago. I showed up at the shop, they offered to fix it same day for the fee + some red bull (really!) but I I had to go so it was ready the next day. Now I didn't need the glass replaced, just the circuit, gears, and a cleaning.
