I was surprised you had planned to keep the sunroof, so this poll gives me hope that you'll still change you mind, "rip that sucker out".

I haven't read your glorious post as I usually drool all over the pictures and can hardly read anything on my screen.

Although I do recall that you wrote "reversible mods" somewhere....

With all that you have already done to the 964 I say RIP IT OFF !

It would be like having a Pornstar with an intermittent headache.

If you are planning on racing the car, then get rid of it. You gain headroom for your helmet and save weight. If this is a street car, I wouldn't bother to remove it.

So far the vote is "SPEND MY MONEY"

Race? No not a race car. Track days YES, that's why I'm putting a welded bar in the back in the first place.
So dual use, which means some compromise.

Are you happy with the headroom? And how good of a driver are you? Will you notice the drop in weight? Are you racing for time or fun? Will 0.5 seconds make a difference?

When I do DE events, I'm doing it for fun, so 1 second doesn't make a difference. I'm also not consistent enough to where the CG improvement would be significant.

I removed mine for 2 reasons
1) I'm tall and there just wasn't enough headroom
2) I never used the sunroof anyway, I have them in 5 street cars and have never used any of them

Don't forget it not just the amount of weight saved but the location of the weight saved. Personally, I have found sunroofs to be the most useless invention since the car exhaust grill (yeah that's a thing).

No going back now. Loose it!!!! you won't regret it and nothing like a 911 with a clean roof.

Get RID OF IT! Ditch it and do it the right way. I know the part number for a brand new roof from Porsche. Ask me how I know...

There is literally nothing better or more important that you can spend your money on. That's not a question. That's a statement.

Above average driver. Will I feel 30 lbs, nope. Can I feel the additive changes of weight on this car. Absolutely.

no racing, just DE and canyons

Yes, high weight is bad. Also adding bar so could counter that.

This is true

You get no say in this. You're the worst encourager. Id probably go with a welded panel vs. a full skin replace.

I chose to ditch mine in my fashion gray build ... it was more about:

1) Removing a part that can malfunction or break in years to come.
2) Weight loss at the highest point.
3) Head room for occasional track duty.

I totally understand the urge to keep it though. My street 964 has one and I always find myself opening when weather dictates (which is often because I don't opt to drive it when weather is ****ty)

If you truly like a sunroof and you don't plan on having a "hot rod" 911 then don't remove it.
A "hot rod" in SoCal may include a sunroof by definition.
