Forget the hoop. Just look at the fit and finish on that Targa top. I'd bet a couple of fleas couldn't get a party started in that gap. You're an artist Sir!
My Targa gap's wider than a builder's butt cleavage

I just finished using Menzerna Super Finish Plus on the paint, the results in person are spectacular. The reflective qualities and depth are finally at a level I’m happy with. I may haves to give it a shot on the Spyder to see what happens.

Dual Action Polisher using a blue finishing pad and a high speed setting (5) with medium/light pressure. The Menzerna definitely needs more time to work into the paint and break down the abrasives compared to Meguiars but the results are also better. Its the first time I have used a polish that doesn’t leave an oily residue behind.

It took some time but I was finally able to source a nice used set of speaker covers to replace the gaudy covers one of the PO’s installed. Knowing I might run into an issue I also sourced a used set of old schools MB Quart woofers which were in great condition through Autobahn. That was the right decision, the Polk speaker frames were too large to fit into the speaker cover backing plate so the Quart’s were installed. Interesting that it actually sounds better with the old speakers.

Next up is the headunit, my new one arrives Monday and I’m hoping to finish that project by next weekend.

Nice job MB, I prefer the stock look of speaker covers. What head unit do you have coming?

Thanks! I also prefer the stock look, bonus was the better sound.

I haven’t updated this thread in a while, here are some updated pics showing off the new RUF Wheels. I do plan on changing out the RUF caps for a set of Porsche Caps at some point.

Nice head unit. Really fits-in with the dash design.

Regarding the silver ****, saw this post/install review over at Pelican:
One mod I made to mine (black interior car). I didn't like the shiny ****, which you can see on the M508 in the cork car. So I pulled it off, removed the black rubber band grip around it, lightly bead blasted the bright finish for some tooth, and sprayed several light coats of SEM Trim Black (that stuff is amazing) It kept the texture of the **** underneath, and looks fantastic. I replaced the rubber band. The deck looks nearly perfect now.

Thanks! I’m a bit of an anomaly, I actually enjoy detailing and I have learned over the years what to do to improve the various surfaces of a car. I also learned that the little improvements details matter so I make a point to make everything right.

Udo thank you for the link, I had not seen this! The headunit really does fit the dash perfectly but the lighting is completely off. It’s a white LED color while our dash lights are the pale yellow so at night it stands out like a sore thumb. I don’t drive much at night so I don’t notice it but I have already provided feedback to Clarion and they have sent it off to their team as a future improvement/change. Nice to see a company actually listens! Long story short I will wait for the next iteration and sell my current one so the lights match up, then I’ll give this mod a shot!

Targas are very cool. I have had many over the years and enjoyed them,
964 is the best of the Targa breed .They are rare and really climbing in value now, I believe the reasons are the retro styling of the 991 targa and when Singer transforms one.
I think I'll keep this one for a long time.
