I passed by today and saw that they were installing the front suspension after replacing the fuel lines and fuel pump and a bunch of other stuff. Looks like I'm on track to getting the body completed soon, the only problem is the engine is taking much longer than anticipated.

Before I post the progress pics, we noticed that the bottom part of the gear shifter extends beyond the bottom cover. The previous owner dented the cover from the inside to accomodate this. We have no idea why, but my guess is he switched the shifter to the short shifter by didn't do the installation correctly. I checked a thread on rennlist which showed the installation and the owner basically widened the hole and installed a bushing to shift the entire tube. I don't know if I'm explaining this properly, but those who have done this will know what I'm talking about, or I might be completely off! Here is the pic, followed by progress pics

Nice progress. Depending on the short shifter kit you may need to deform the lower cover so it doesn't rub or bind. It looks like a Weltmeister or RS SS kit. These in my experience do require some working of the lower cover along with the rothsport units.

It was apparently a problem with the engine timing and the LWFW. They didn't install it properly and it cracked. They switched it out for the old one and the car started
