I talked to my indy re: the same thing and he basically said the same thing as well, non-issue.

So looking at the RS version and adding up the hub, new fan pulley and new crank pulley Im at about $500.

The Clewett kit for 964 with AC is $615 so I think that is the way I am going to go.

Additionally, I have read on the internet (so take it for what it is worth) that the Clewett crank/fan pulley ratio is between stock and factory RS kit so it should charge a little better.

But I am still a ways off with this mod as I will include a new alternator and fan and gusseted engine mount as well as take care of a few cosmetics. So it will be WAY over $615 by the time I am done.

There is an added benefit and the reason I went with the Clewett...you get rid of the heavy wobbly rubber harmonic balancer at the end of your crankshaft. If yours is out of tolerance like mine was after 20 years of heat cycling, then expect to pay about $1200 for a new one. 😮 With the Clewett, you also lose the plastic alternator fan belt sensor.

To sum this up: I am getting an new fan and alternator now, all my AC bits are being replaced with new parts, and LWFW is being installed - are there more pro's than con's for going with the Clewett setup?

Not everything is known about what can happen with the Clewett setup on a 964, but there is worry about the effects it may theoretically have on the lighter crankshaft than the 993. The theory is that the dual mass flywheel acts as a harmonic damper and therefore buffers the ill effects of not having the heavy 964 harmonic balancer on the opposite end of the crankshaft. I don't know if there is anyone with experience using the Clewett with a lwfw.

That was the first thing I said to myself as well. I saw a Panamera in Chalk the other day looked fantastic with black accents. Wish they offered the Macan in that color.

Totally. I'd make the same call. Plus, PDK makes the experience accessible to more people. Would love to have my mom drive my GT3, and tell her "floor it", then drive her out to dinner in the 964. The feel and the sounds that both cars make (different), are just epic.

Update from today - the parts are ready for paint and I approved the paint sample so hopefully they'll start soon
