Default 1991 964 Center AC vents

I know the AC in these car's is not great, but still having my center vent blow anything at all would certainly help. My two side vents work great and blow nice and cold. The center vent feels cold, but does not blow. Is this a mixing flap issue? Is this something that is easily fixed DIY? Anyone have any tips or how-to's?

I would start with ToreB's troubleshooting guide.

None of those symptoms speak to my issue.

The way the vent is designed inside it tends to blow a lot more out of one side than the other even when working correctly.

Really!!!!

I had no idea. Mine blows more out the driver side than passenger side. I have been thinking something was wrong internally. So maybe its all good?

I've been working on my HVAC system and had the same issue. With the center vent removed, it still blows more out the drivers side of the single duct. There is only one duct for the center vent and it comes up from the drivers side.

Mine blows GREAT from the drivers side and passenger side. Would love if the center would just blow even a little bit. Would extremely help the car cool down just a touch so I am not PEELING myself off of the seat every time I get out. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't really sweat no matter what the temperature!

IIRC, someone posted a while back about replacing foam (I think) around duct behind vent that made a big difference in air flow.

Yes, the foam around the center duct degrades over time, and usually falls apart completely if removed and replaced.

Changing the central vent foam is not difficult or expensive. For this particular problem, it is the most efficient way to help correct / diagnose the issue without having to pay someone or spend a lot of time on it.
