Rob, is this the tool (or similar?) w/the crows foot? Oops, just realized this is for an impact driver...

That's impact grade and very bulky. I seem to remember I used a flex socket, 6-point, that looks something like this, and then just used an extension and the torque wrench. I don't remember it being that high a torque rating (18 ft-lbs maybe), just turn slowly, it will be really close. Put a thin coat of anti-seize on the studs.

Some people swear by this tool. Snap-On makes one, and I'm sure others. I might have to get one ! (I am a tool junky)

Robert, I'm bit of a tool junky myself. Can rarely justify "one off" tools, but I can see a need for a set of shallow metric swivel sockets.
Especially given the tight spaces we live in with these cars.

Latest joy. This bolt just kept loosely spinning. Tap a new thread w/larger bolt? Suggestions?

I would use a heli-coil or similar insert.

I had a caliper bolt hole strip out on my old land cruiser and I used a Recoil kit. If it’s available in your area I highly recommend this kit as it is very complete. Helicoil and others are often in stock at local parts stores. An insert will make it better than new!

Time for an update: A fastener here, a grommet there & this engine is done! Next step is to take it off the stand & place onto my ATV jack. I will need to
rent an eng hoist for that manuver. Then I can install the clutch/flywheel & mate eng w/trans.

You're all good. The engine I'm rebuilding has nothing attached there, neither did my other rebuild. BTW: Looking fantastic.

Thanks John.
Just got conformation that it's correct. Just looked weird to me. All vacuum actuated apparently...

Rented an engine hoist & load leveler (T-bar) for balance. Placed gently onto my ATV jack so I can now install the clutch & then mate eng to trans.
Here is the end result, should have taken pics when it was hanging in the breeze...oh well.

How does the clutch release bearing fit over the shaft? Find someone with a press?
I can probably figure out a way using C-clamps + wood. Anyone done this care to weigh in...
