Reusing Piston rings and bearings?
If i replace my pistons and rods with aftermarket.
Currently looking at Mahle pistons & Pauter rods. Can i re use the rod bearings and piston rings?
I know the pistons come with rings, bearings are cheap. But both in mine are quite new. So just asking really. I dont have an issue swapping them.

For the rings, check there gaps and make sure they go back in the same cylinder they came out of. The only issue I would have are they the same thickness as the new rings. I would swap the bearings just because they are the things that fail.

Are you thinking Mahle factory pistons Pauly? or Mahle motorsport pistons? Any reason for the change? you can always reuse the rod bearings if you wish, i would use flexigauge to see if you have the correct clearance. As for the rings, if the pistons are not factory they will probably need new rings as the later manufactured pistons from Mahle motorsport use a thinner ring.
Now if you do get new pistons they usually come with rings to suit (you have to file them to fit). My preference is Wossner.

Mahle motorsports pistons. But i have noticed they're 100.5mm not 100.0mm I'm not sure if that's an issue.
I did look at Wossner. My first choice. I was just reading threads and a lot of people had mentioned Mahle motorsports.
I know new new pistons come with rings, Gapping them is easy.
Preference with Rods? Years ago i looked at wossner rods, but a few have told me they're about 500hp capable. Which is to close to my power output. Pauter seem popular.
Are you a supplier of any?
Also with the pistons, I'm going to cut valve reliefs in them. So i was looking at getting 20cc pistons. I need to work out how much it'll take out from the piston too.
And at the same time i'm going to CC my head and see exactly what my compression ratio is. I feel like my old head was higher CR than my new head.

Im looking at these ones listed on ebay.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MAHLE-Pis...MAAOSwzJ5XWIr0
volume is 21cc vs 26cc normal i believe.
If i can get the same with wossner, i'd get them.

100.5 definitely needs an overbore, also check last few pages of 3.0 registry thread. I would steer clear of new mahle alusil coating.

I know Lindsey Racing have them, but at their $1200 price for any version is way to expensive vs racers edge at 650.

I think 100 and 100.5mm Wossners are around £600 here, easy to order too. I'm fairly sure the Wossners run more clearance than the original Porsche pistons, so I don't think you can fit like for like without some block work.
