ET offset from 16x8 inch 23.3mm to using a 17x9 Fuch replica with ET 15
I just got my 1st 944 1986 Turbo (had a 944s2 in the past) and want to stay with the current Fuch style wheels, but move to larger/wider rear tire. I am looking at the Euromeister 17x9 rims for the rear that state a ET of 15. I assume this is 15 mm? I plan to keep the 16 inch wheels on the front. I'm not racing or pushing the car...more interested in the look. I am looking at either a 255x40Zrx17 tire or a 275x40ZRx17, I see the 255 has 25 inch dia, which should easily clear. The 275 is 25.7 (nearly .5 inches more than my current tires). My question are if anyone has tries the 275's and if I would need to put on spacers to get the ET15 offset back to a 23.3?

the 17x9 ET 15 will stick out towards the fender about 3/4" more than your stock 8x16ET23 wheel. probably OK but youll want to double check that you dont get a tire full of fender lip at full compression.
25.7 tire should be no problem - the 1/2 difference is split "top and bottom" so it would be 1/4" closer to the fender lip. FWIW i have a 25.6" rear tire on my car (225/60/15).

Post pics when you're done. Good luck curious to see that combo.
BTW I have 16 x 9 in the back with a spacer and I am fine so you should be good to go.

Most helpful thing I can do is to point you to an offset calculator, this helps visualize what changing the offset will do.

As to the spacer question, the ET 15 is 8 mm further towards the center line of the wheel, so no you cannot use a spacer to make that number go back to 23, a spacer would only lower the number further.
