Default Battery Cable Grommet Source?

Does anyone know a source for a new battery cable grommet like the one in these pictures. It has a part/mold number on it of 944.612.213.00 but that comes up empty everywhere, and PET seems to show this grommet as part of the battery cable set.

3D printers are quite cool. There's an enjoyment in making things. I'd like to get one oneday. But not everything can or should be made by plastic.

For something like that you can find a bunch on universal grommets on summit. http://m.summitracing.com/search/par...ewall-grommets

It looks like Ian has it on ebay for $200 including the cables. http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...930386&alt=web

Tom, If you can print me a plastic one I can make a mold of it then pressure cast them in silicone. Or send me the old one and after a few iterations I should have a pretty accurate copy made including the part number and pos/neg.

This could be printed using Ninjaflex quite easily. It's rated to 60°C continuous, but higher temps for non-load bearing parts shouldn't be an issue.

For example - I printed grommets to hold my braided brake lines to the struts.

Wow, that would be incredible! I have a few feelers out in search of a non-ripped one to either use in the car or as a pattern. My CAD modeling skills are limited. I'm sure I could model a functional version, but probably without much of the original contouring details. I'll give it a go though while looking for another, and will be in touch if it makes most sense to make a new one. Tell us more about the process -- are you in that business or have you developed a DIY approach?

I looked at Ninjaflex after you suggested printing my own, but was a little put off by the temp rating. That grommet will be exposed to the header side of the engine compartment, so imagine the temp will exceed its specs. Do you think it would really survive in that location? How hard is it to print with (jams, pulling off build plate, etc.?)

I'd say just get one from salvage. I'm sure most yards would practically give that away. Contact lart. Or if you know any local yards that have these cars. They still exist lol.

No, I'm not in the business, but out of necessity and a love of vintage German cars I've developed the skills to DIY it. I have more time than sense, according to my wife. If you find a good one or close to good, I'd love to make a mold and avail it to the forum.
