Lindsey Turbo Identification
Hey guys, I'm going to be doing a full engine rebuild soon and while the engine is out I have been thinking of upgrading the stock k26/6.
I just want a small turbo that spools about the same, but can carry some more boost to around 6k rpm. I think something like the Lindsey Super 38 would be ideal.
Which brings me to this: I have found a 2nd hand turbo for sale, apparently it's a Lindsey Racing BB turbo rated to 380hp. It is has been in storage for 7 years. The seller doesn't know exactly which turbo it is though. Since he says it is rated to 380hp, I think it might be the lindsey super 38, but it doesn't look like the pictures on lindsey's website.
Can I ask him for any specific measurements that would lead to a positive id?
Here are the pictures he sent me:

That's not a turbo we ever sold. We don't drill the turbine shaft in the end to lighten since it offers minimal benefit at the sacrifice of weakening it.

That has a turbonetics hot housing. Maybe a SFR, Broadfoot, or old Huntly racing. I think LR deals with Garrett compressor and kkk hot housings. That's what I have from them anyways. How big is the discharge hole on the hot housing?

Thanks for the help guys. I will see what measurements he comes back with and if that can narrow it down. Comparing to other pictures I have found it does look like a Vitesse turbo. Maybe an old Stage 2 or a Stage 3. I'm not sure, but I think a Stage 3 might be too big for me though. And I'm also a bit worried about buying a 2nd hand turbo that's that old. Maybe I should save my money and do the turbo upgrade later.

We would build 3 different versions of the Super 61 and that's not including BB vs 360 vs wet or dry. Then it would be about 9 versions. That's a stage 5 turbine. As for the compressor side, can't be sure with just a picture. It's not the typical compressor housing we use, which is a TO4E because they flow more then that TO4B. Look on the compressor housing where the 6 fasteners and straps are and see if you see anything machine engraved there. Super 61 usually says 60-1 but not 100% of the time. Housing suppliers pre-machine the housings for particular wheels and mark them so turbo shops know what it is without measuring.
