Default Euro rear bumper DIY?

There one out there somewhere? Or anyone have any tips on how to swap it on?

Its very simple, on the underside of the bumper are two holes to access the allen head bolts holding the bumper to the shocks. Take those out, then just pull the bumper off. Take the bumper shocks off and replace with the euro mounts. Slide the euro bumper over the euro mounts, if i recall you will need different size bolts than what the US bumpers use.

Here's the most pertinent post from my euro bumper thread:

I stumbled across a thread where Techno Duck said it was 22 pounds lighter. Jon, care to confirm?

I have to say, the stock bumpers now look like Jay Leno's chin to me...

The turbo & S2 euro bumpers have a thicker rub strip as Techno Duck mentioned. That's because they have a removable cover that allows access to a rear tow point that accepts the tow eye like the front. This requires a different bumper reinforcement, 944 505 039, which sells for $182.40 from Sunset. I decided I'd lived w/o a rear tow point before and didn't care to spend as much on this as I did on the bumper itself. But, it's available if you want to go that way.

Since I seem to have stirred up interest, here's a complete parts list:

477 807 131 A - Bumper reinforcement (mount) X 2 w/o the rear tow point x1 if using tow point $42.50/ea from Sunset
944 505 039 01 - Bumper reinforcement (mount) with receptacle for tow eye $182.40/ea from Sunsest

Hardware:
M10 x 60 X 2 - These attach the bumper to the mounts
Lock rings
Washers

M8 x 20 X 4 - These attach the mounts to the body. You could reuse the old hardware for this
Lock rings/washers

Oh, one other tid bit that I had a hard time figuring out: To remove the old bumper you need to remove the under spoiler/diffuser to gain access to the small screws that attach the end caps. There are obvious screws underneath the under spoiler/diffuser, the less obvious ones can be accessed from the cubbies (that's the part I scratched my head on)

Thanks Greg. I'll have to check my box and see what I have hardware wise but your list helps out immensely.

You bet. I find that Ace Hardware sells a surprising number of Porsche/BMW/Alfa/Land Rover parts

No, the x 2 indicates the number required. Don't remember if they are 1.25 or 1.50. Personally, I'd go crazy and buy two of each...

Or I could bring a bracket to the hardware store...
