Are you willing to post your Arduino code? Thanks!

A great display to use for these arduino projects is
http://www.4dsystems.com.au/product/uLCD_43DT_AR/

They have a 3.5" version for $100. I have used these at work and for home projects. Real easy to get started and has good libraries for the Arduino. You can get them several places here in the US. Here are a few pics of my displays using it:

That's a great looking display (if a bit pricey). I'll keep mulling options for the display. The one I'm using serves it's purpose, but is fairly bling-free. The project is still a work in process and I have a few more interesting things to add, so not quite ready for prime time. I'll update as it evolves and always happy to help others on a non-commercial basis building similar projects for themselves.

Good idea. I've been using a mechanical gauge under the hood for years. It would be nice to see inside.

Because i have mine behind the plastic from the 968 clock, it has a bit of glare. And the screen could be more brighter. It is at times hard to see during the day,

Then again, The product and technology used in the screen on the PLX is now quite old. so it could be better, better res and contrast ratio IMO. But for what it is, I'm happy with it.

I'll get some pics tonight. I have crappy phone pics only.

For coolant pressure? Any pictures? Where did you put it and does it have a tattletale needle -- or do you just assume the worst if it's sitting just under cap pressure at idle after a hard run? What pressures are you seeing?

Hmmm.... I was hoping for a more glowing review (no pun intended). I'd really like to find a polarized (transflective?) display that is visible and easy to read even in glaring sun...

That's actually a neat idea. You just put it at the front of the screen and it'll still work. (as in replace the plastics)

The unit itself is great. so much data. very customisable.

I'll put up a thread tonight.

Which brings to mind the following question:

From a monitoring standpoint, which engine parameters could be ported to something like this?

Coolant pressure is good.

Oil temperature?

Intake pre-cooled and after intercooler temps?

Not sure I appreciate the importance of EGTs...

What else?

Anything you put a sensor to.

Oil pressure,
Oil Temp
Water Temp
Water pressure (if you wish to)
intake air temp. (as many as you want. pre / post IC. Intake manifold. ect.
boost/vacuum
EGT 1,2,3,4
AFR.

Funny how things snowball. I originally just thought a panel from front panel express would be cool there instead of the ashtray (or my cupholder thing). Then I thought I'd add a coolant pressure gauge, then figured I might as well add some other things... My thought was not to log, since there are so many other ways to log these days, but rather as a place for data that's useful after the fact and doesn't usually get monitored, but we'll see. And I'm actually working on a few more creative ideas for this, but not ready to share yet It's the kind of project that could easily be killed by scope creep, my Achilles heel...

If you make something to fit the 968 cubby, i think that would be ideal for a few!!
That's basically what i was trying to achieve with the PLX.

Or a whole screen (single din) for under the HU. OLED. full of parameters and some eye candy. Bit more work involving that though.
