Default Shredded my ring & pinion

Shop says it's going to be $1350 and 8 weeks to get the parts here...

...so anyone have any cheaper alternatives or an extra R&P set, 8 teeth, 27 teeth?

gearbox code AOR 827, part # 016409143AQ

Price is so high because that's the genuine factory Porsche parts. I found something for cheaper on autoatlanta.com when I punched that part # in, wondering if it's a viable option...

Seems my two choices are at the quoted price is to find another tranny (which I'm not really interested in), or replace the R&P. And hopefully find something cheaper than OEM to replace it with so I don't actually have to spend $1350.

Car is a 2.8 liter with Lindsey Racing Super 75 turbo that puts down 370 RWHP at moderate boost and once I get the tranny fixed, I plan on doing Rogue Tuning, E85, and more boost...so whatever goes in will need to hold up to that kind of power.

How much are you paying with parts and labor total?

Are you going to replace the R & P yourself? All the bearings, syncros, seals, etc. have to come off the shaft. Putting them back in properly isn't easy - only watched an expert basically re-do this a few times on one of my 951 S 5 speed transaxles - and he's done many. Sent out another years ago to someone in Colorado - failed quickly - warranted it, but the time removing - shipping - reinstalling was a PITA!

Search JET951 for a write up on how to change it. it's a lengthy process.

Yes it is - those detailed pictures weren't likely taken in an afternoon.
