Bosch doesn't care. Porsche doesn't care.

Now if it was a 911 or a 356 part, they would be all over it!

Audi TPS has the same bolt spacing (70mm) and 6pins as 951 and has the same functions (idle/WOT switch+potentiometer) as 951 one. Has the same connector too.

Can you find what Audi model these went on and the part number? That would be awesome!
It funny that it mentioned Porsche doesn't care about the 951. I'm sure the 951 didn't make as much $ as the 944 for Porsche. But these models helped the company during hard times in those years. And IMO the 951 is a better car then the 911's of the same years. When you have to de-tune a four cylinder to not go faster then the flagship 911 flat six cylinder then there is a political problem within that company. Wouldn't want to upset the rich and famous idiots with there 911's. Not to be confused with the 911 owners that like the easiness of changing a clutch out and get a deal on a 911.

It is from Audi 2.6/2.8 V6 12v (found on A4, A6, A8) with automatic gearbox models.

Here's an interesting write up: http://www.arnnworx.com/catalog/inde...id=2&chapter=1

Ironically, i found the cap blown off my tps the other day (still looking for it) - sounds like I need to reseal the throttle body.

Word on the street is that Volvo 3517772 is the same part, but I've never seen one in person so can't confirm.

Another option is fitting on from a BMW, Bosch p/n 0280120406. Although not sure of the resistance range... you could modify it with inline resistors if the whole range needed to be shifted up. The connector is also different so that means getting connectors and making an adapter, or splicing into the harness.

I was helping my buddy with an E30 get it running on megasquirt the other month, and we found that the 951 TPS bolted perfectly to the E30 throttle body. I also use a 951 TPS on my NA throttle body... so there is definitely mechanical interchangeability between some of these Bosch TPSs.

Odurandina is right though... new harness and EMS and never look back. and you don't need a MAF, speed density tuning is great especially for turbo applications.

That's for the 944 not the 951.

Ah, that may be. Although the google images results show a 6-pin sensor, whereas the 944 NA part is 3-pin. I also noticed that Volvo calls this part the "Potentiometer" which is promising. If anyone comes across one for cheap/at the junkyard, they should put a multimeter on it and see what's what.

Every TPS is a potentiometer. It's that the 951 has an idle switch intigraded into it. So if it's a six plug connector off the Volvo that's very promising. I may have to order one just to find out.

Most 80's 70mm bolt spacing TPS are just switches, not potentiometers. 951 (and Audi units, also some BMW automatic units, but with different connector, round one) have both integrated. Only newer ones have just the potentiometer, like BMW M50, or Porsche 968.

The solution to this IMHO is that Bosch clearly doesnt give a damn, Porsche gives even less of a damn, and we need to #1, get out of the 80's, and #2 free ourselves from the ****ty bosch engine management nightmare that is not only hard to find, expensive parts, but also unreliability. In my opinion the ONLY option if your are serious about your car is to completely ditch the dinosaur motronic and go with a modern EFI standalone like megasquirt.
