Clutch Release Fork
Posting here because I'm guessing this crowd has gone through more clutches than most
I'm gathering together everything to replace my clutch and pressure plate and noticed my clutch release fork 944-116-085-02 is worn. During the tear down I found that one of the release bearing fingers was broken and may have contributed to the wear.
Anyway, what is the experience with release forks? I've ordered a new one (ouch!) and I'm thinking that a worn release fork may also contribute to a different pedal feel when a pressure plate is replaced without replacing the release fork.

Just done 2 clutches. A '91 S2 and an '87 944S, 80,000 miles and 130,000 miles. Both clutch forks were perfectly serviceable. Interestingly the clutch plate in the 87 looked original but the one in the '91 car was OEM but dated Nov '91 which was after its build date, suggesting it had, had a replacement, early in its life probably under warranty. Then lasted another 24 years before giving up the ghost ... as always the rubbber gave way before the friction surface was worn.

I wonder if the fork tips could be modified to accept a replaceable sacrificial part, made of bronze/brass or the like.
Also would be nice to reinforce (widen) the fingers if possible.
