The reason people are throwing random numbers at you is because this is totally a question of budget and motivation.
You can put on a bigger turbo and forged internals and crank out 800+ to the wheels if you want. You might need a new transmission, and axles, and all sorts of other stuff, but you can do it.
Rebuilding all of the internal goodies to factory or better can cost a person $10k or more, and how much power you get depends on valve springs and pistons and cams and everything else you decide to use.
That said I think the answer you're looking for is probably around 375hp. A nicely refreshed motor with a few upgrades here and there and a tune would probably land you in that ballpark.

Let me be serious here.
You want to build the block & internals. But use stock turbo.
All you need to do is get a tune, new wastegate. 3" exhaust. and that's it. 300hp.
Do some reading. There's a sticky on the page:

All your info is in there. It really feels like a waste of time creating that thread and no one reading it

Money and motivation dont make up for the lack of knowledge that you are dealing with. Paulyy was right that you should go to the sicky and read.... Not sure that you are going to do that, judging on your previous response. Maybe Pelican Parts tech forum is more your speed.
pcleary1210- what 951 has had anything close to 800hp to the wheels? Not even the 16v 3.0l documented on Rennlist get there. No reason spout unsubstantiated claims like that. The same for a k26/6 making 375bhp.
bajabluejay- but where is the original turbo? lol.

Last night I watched a Chevy S10 pickup with a v6 and two giant blowers run a mid-9 1/4 mile. With enough money you can do whatever the hell you want. It won't be practical, reliable or otherwise, but that wasn't one of the stipulations
But you're probably right, you haven't seen it done so it's totally not possible.

Bob Norwood did indeed accomplish such a feat with the 968 engine.
I think he blew one up on the Launchpad..... then managed a big dyno and a few epic passes....
then somebody stole the car. just stole it.... so, he went back to building world record F-cars.
the 2.5 engine has had a rougher ride getting in range of the big hp number in your post.
Duke, is probably, the current reigning king.... running, I believe, a 3.0 engine.
this guy built one that someone could ostensibly, argue as being fairly close to the practical limit for the 2.5 liter (imo).....
