Full PCCB GT3 Big Brake swap for an '88 951
#31
This is the baddest set of brakes I've mocked up for these cars. The calipers feel/look just like the Z06 6 pistons I put on another car. But the rotors are so light weight there's no comparison.....
I removed two rotor bolts to get the tech spec and need to find their torque value.....anyone?
Rotor hat PCD is....
10 x 199mm with 9mm thru holes
Just in case steel rotors are used for tracking.....

I saw Eric had posted these on the FB page, pretty incredible.
Now the PCCB's on my Spyder required either the PCCB MBC ( I did upgrade to the GT3 one) do you have to do that as well on this conversion. These are a little different than mine on the Spyder but this is a wild *** mod.

I did the mock-up for the rears this morning. There are a few ways to get the job done. The 87-up control arms set the PCCB rotor inner e-brake hat interface out too far past the factory pad/mechanism. I now see why Olli made those e-brake adapters. However that would allow road debris to enter the hub area and require unnecessary machining of the rear PCCB calipers.
To remedy this, there two options.....
1) New custom rotor hats 0.90" deeper at the e-brake interface
2) Simply use the Early pre-87 control arms

I know your car has ABS, I will be interested to see how this functions as so much of the modern ceramics have ECU settings tied to the MBC.
I am having my Yellows painted GT Silver with red logo's as I didn't want to introduce yellow to my Spyders colors. Yellow matches your car...if your a bruin!
Good luck Eric this is a pretty awesome mod and NO BRAKE dust ever.

I thought about the color as well, but that was kind of the whole point of getting Big Yellows so that everyone would know they are real factory Big Yellows. I still might send them to Albert for a color change. I have time to make up my mind on this. I don't anticipate any issues with the ABS.
Gator Orange did cross my mind though! Don't see too many Gator Orange Calipers.

Great work Rob!
My only concern with swapping out my rear trailing arms is screwing up my known wheel geometry. I know exactly what fits perfectly on an '89 with 11" rears and ET63. As long as you know the exact amount the hub moves inward/outward it should not matter.

I've seen reference of 25mm difference as well as having measured an 86 and 87 951 rear rotor myself and their difference was 25mm also.
Changing to an early aluminum arm will also give more caliper to wheel clearance as well. You would simply subtract 25mm ET from your custom wheel calc.
