Nevermind...finally found it in the workshop manual. There is nothing really holding it on, just an odd angle with not much room to work and you have to really push it off.

When adding a remote fuel regulator in place of cruise control in the engine compartment I had to put a plug in the firewall to keep exhaust whatever smell out of the cockpit. If pulling that cable make sure it seals good with a rubber stopper. I used rtv all around it.

Just adding some pictures to this thread to help people in the future. I was able to remove this very easily sandwiching a wrench between the metal pin and rubber.
You have to remove the rubber grommet in the engine bay to pull out the cable in 1 piece. I was able to free the rubber grommet using a long narrow flat head screw driver and prying at it from the side.

Retaining Clip Number?
I know this is an old thread but I am retrofitting cruise to my UK 944S2. I have everything for the job bar one very small part for which I am struggling to find the part number. This thread has a great picture of the 'Reverse Arm' where the cruise cable fits (first item in the thread) and the bit I need is the clip that holds the reverse arm on the pivot post. If anyone knows what part number it is or its specification I would appreciate it - its the only bit I cannot locate. BTW, the pivot post is about 8mm in diameter on the UK car, I'm guessing it will be the same on left hand drive cars.
