Default 951 Wins its class & Fastest on "R" specs

PCNSW Supersprint Round 1 , Sydney motorsport park ( Eastern Creek ) GP Circuit , Sydney Australia ( yesterday )

Big Turn out with around 90 or so entries ( lots of late model Porsche's )

Warm to hot day , very high humidity & passing light to medium rain showers , most of the time half the track was completely wet , but over the back of the track ( other side of the hill ) the track was sometimes completely dry & then within one or two corners water was streaming all over the track ( made for interesting driving )

There was a glimmer of a just a damp track , meaning damp track but no rain for the first early sessions , but then the periodic showers came in , so it meant that the quickest times were done early on

The first three quickest times were done with Porsche's on Racing Slicks , & none of these cars were road cars , the 3rd quickest time was done by a 951 on "R" specs &won its class ( class 1 ) & in fact it was the fastest Porsche there on the day with "R" spec tyres & this car is just a road 951 , it main use is driving to work 6 days a week & has full sound insulation , stereo system , sunroof , great A/C system ( needs it because its black in colour )

Yes it was Sean Buchanan , in his 1986 951 3.0L 16V (E85 fuel) 951 , the fact he was the fastest road registered commuting( drive to work )Porsche there among so many GT3's is quite something

Not bad for a 29 year old Porsche with no ABS & no electronic driver aids

Note } Patrick Garvan's 951 race car was not there because his car is not ready yet , last year his 951 was the fastest Porsche in the Porsche car club at every supersprint ( he will be back )

These pesky 951's just keep pulling rabbits out of hats , must be annoying

Here are the top 20 places for the day

GT3 RSR 4.0L on Race Slicks
991 GT3 Cup Car on Race Slicks
991 GT3 on race slicks
951 ( 1986 )Sean's car on "R" spec road tyres
996 GT3 on race slicks

The potential to do this ^^^ is what stops me buying an Audi TT-RS.

Congratz! Do you have any race vids? I'd love to be on a virtual ride-a-long.

Congratulations Sean and Mark great result. That 968CS (I think you mentioned it before) is certainly coming through with the goods.

Hi KSira , Sean & I work Saturdays as well ( hence 6 days a week) up to around 2 PM, have done for years /decades , this is what happens when you own you're own business( Sean & I are Buchanan Automotive ) & we have lots of work ( often way too much ) & we come in on Saturday to do work on customers Porsche's( while they wait etc ) for those quicker / smaller jobs & this is very well received by these Porsche owners who find this very convenient , because they are too busy to get here Mon - Fri

And ( when time permits ) Sean can do more work on his projects ( like Carbon Fibre panels me makes ) , we actually are very lucky because we regard our work as a hobby & its more fun & interesting than just going to work
