Can you please give me more informations about this : "the 2.5L 16v head not being as strong as the 968 16v around the bolt hole area" .

what do you mean by this bolt hole area ?

Concerning the forum i've posted on 924 board too. Maybe a 924 here is not prestigious enough
Sorry, not very descriptive of me. The material around the head stud hole is thicker on the 968 head than the 944S. From an experienced builder:

"No way to reinforce the head. What I suggest we do is to counter bore the boss and fit a “press fit” stepped washer as a head washer. Maybe the head cracks due to the head boss “bore” collapsing inwards when the head nut is tightened. This is a common failure on heads. They make the bore in the head larger than the stud and when the nut is tightened the aluminum material around the head boss bore collapses. This is a common cause for head gasket failures too. The tensile goes into collapsing the head instead of stretching the head stud evenly and giving an even crush on the H gasket."

I would suggest you post your project on the '944 turbo and turbo' S forum. That forum gets much more coverage on 'special' builds. Don't worry that it's not a 944. People will appreciate your fine build.

Hi guys,

Still in progress to provision the parts for the car.

Oil and other coolers are make on measurements. Beautiful work from a french supplier.

Tachometers Stack not easy to find in this version.

Rear shocks with their helpers.

And absolutely essential vintage PORSCHE's Brembo calipers

Hi HICKS and thank you. Happy to read you're enjoying the construction.

Here are the news of the week.
Coolers are all ready, intercooler included (the most tricky to realize) . Target: installation during Christmas holidays.

The other big work of the moment is the exhaust manifold. Still Under construction but seems to be in the good way.

Holidays will also be the opportunity to paint the car ...

To be continued

Fantastically interesting project! Well done for not just doing a cosmetic replica, but a faithful as far as is practicable reproduction. Looking forward to seeing progress as it happens. Subscribed!

I hate to think of the expense or amount of effort that will go into this project but thank you for sharing it, as it is a truly amazing thing to undertake. These cars are the stuff of dreams to many 944 enthusiasts and so seeing you realise this dream is fantastic to observe. Keep up the posts and just so you know, any detail, no matter how small, is of great interest to many of us
cheers

Very nice project!! And, thanks for posting in the 944 Turbo forum as this is where all of the turbo folks are (you can see this by the massive number of posts in this 944 Turbo forum which is much bigger than most of the other forums).

It looks to me like you are doing a great job to re-create all of the unique characteristics of this car so it is definitely going to "look" right. The one area of concern for reliable use on a race track (if that is important for this project), is to get the engine built properly. The community on this 944 Turbo forum has some people who have built many different variations of 944 Turbo engines with 16 valve heads. There is a large amount of experience here to learn from. Patrick (333pg333) is one of those resources. Chris White is another. And the list goes on and on. These engines can be a bit problematic if they are not built right and the proper parts aren't used in the right ways. Please continue to share your project and seek input because the experienced people on this forum can really help. We want this car to not only look great, we would love to see it run great on the track with a reliable and strong engine!!

I used to own a 944 Turbo race car but sold it and have been playing with my 911 race car over the past few years . . . but my love for the 944 Turbos is still very strong.

Best regards,
Jeff

Great build so far, this is going to be a fun project to watch develop. I am thankful people are willing to spend the time, and money, to recreate historic 924/44/68s.
