Default Are these rods reusable?

Not P car related but I think you don't mind me asking here. My all-in-one friend/neighbor/cousin is rebuilding Toyota Celica ST205 GT Four WRC. He bought the car with blown engine. PO stated that engine seized due to oil pump failure. My buddy teared apart the block and he found damaged oil pump, disintegrated main and rod bearings, scratches on cyl. #4. He fixed everything but he doesn't know if he can reuse rods - please see the picture. They are straight and does not have any visual damages except for color change - they turned black. It is not a dirt - he used every known to man chemical to remove it. No joy. It looks like when engine seized they turned really hot and when it stopped they hardened in oil again and turned black. At least that's our theory. Does it make any sense? Can they be reused or he should look for replacement?

I would never reuse a rod that came out of a seized engine that had destroyed rod bearings. Not worth the risk to save a little $$$, replace them. All of them.

These are hard to get and pricey, that's why he's checking first.

Replace them. The black color means that they got too hot and lost their tempering.
