Default Holset hy35 Install....

well I just picked up an hy35, and it seems the turbine flange mounts to the crossover flange.... SO what else do I need to know to put this together?

it seems to bolt to the turbo mount/oil drain, do I need a restrictor OR a spacer?

and what about the downpipe/turbine housing?

I know this uses a vband to hold the turbine housing to the Center.

Does it bolt onto the turbo mount without any grinding?

How could the flanges mate? The holset uses a t3 while the stock turbo uses the odd kkk inlet.

I have machined the v band and skme other areas to fit the hy to a stg 5 garret .63 hotside. On a DSM

I don't think you'll get away with using the holset turbine housing since it's a lot longer.

Do you still have the 924 turbo car?

well what i meant is the t3 flange seemed to match up to the crossover flange? I just held it up to it, didnt actually try to bolt them together.

But yes I was kind of wondering about the downpipe clearance.

can you show me about the t3 housing? I need something cheap to work, temporarily. just curious but why the .63 vs the .82?

yes sorry i forgot to respond about the 924 been out of town for a while. Not quite sure what I want to do with it. If I can get this 951 running Ill decide, on the 924

yes you could eliminate all the coolant lines.

i had to grind some notches in the vband portion of the hy center section to allow the bolts to go through to the garret hotside,
i used the .63 bc its what i had fabbed already. it ran 11.8 at 116 at 23 psi in the talon, so pretty good for a base startingf poin

I'm using the hotside now. Not sure what direction I'm going with this car right now. Ill send you a pic of the center section. You can usually pick up garret hotsides on ebay or you can get them direct from garret.

Those aren't for a holset?

Not sure how they would match up. They don't look like they are right. Yiu could risk it though.

here are the specs of the HY35

Specs that I obtained from calling Holset (these #'s are 100% accurate for one of the turbos coming my way).

Compressor inducer: 54mm
Compressor exducer: 78mm
Turbine wheel: 58/65mm

Turbine size: 9cm2 (or 10) depending on how it's measured. I'll get exact specs when the turbo(s) arrive here. The compressor wheel sizes are similar to a GT3076r and the turbine similar to a GT3276. Compressor and turbine trim are 48/79 respectively.

I've talked to a couple subie and honda guys and everyone who uses it seems to love it. Only time will tell I guess. I'm hoping for full boost (~8.7psi) by 3000rpms.

If you're only running 9psi of boost why even move away from a kkk turbo?..
