Paragon Products, can you believe this?
What do you think about this? I wanted to place an order for 400 bucks but now?
The shipping charges are $15.64 FedEx ground. Since you have not ordered
from us before and this is going outside USA we would need some additional
info. We need a copy of your credit card statement showing the billing
address. We can only ship to the billing address of the credit card. We
also need a photo of your credit card both front and back. Please provide
us with a phone # of the issuing bank for your credit card.
I realize this is a lot of inconvenience to get parts. We really do
appreciate your patients and understanding as to this necessity. The up
side is as long as nothing changes you will not have to provide any
additional info.
Thanks again for your patients and cooperation.
Best Regards,
Chuck

Well, seeing as how I was ripped off by a Canadian customer through ebay once I can understand their thoroughness. I would think that there has to be a better way to verify outside of taking a picture/scan though.

I would not have a problem sending them a copy of my CC but a copy of my CC statement with all my transactions. Not sure, but it sounds as if it's violates my privacy. I don't think that they would use it in any way but this is not necessary.

Tech Edge in Australia ask you to do the same thing unless you are PayPal certified. Paragon is protecting themselves and you(your credit card) by doing this, and your order too. But look at this way; you set up your account and from now on you can order from one of the best vendors in the world.

Crazyracer:
If you provided a different billing and shipping address, they are just trying to make sure that the CC matches the shipping.

I agree with everyone else it is no big deal. Just cover up the transactions on the statement and send it. THey just want to make sure that the ship to address is the same as the bill to address. Here in the states we get ripped off all the time from internation orders and there is nothing you can do to get your money back. You do not list what part of the world you live in so I do not know the full picture but I will say that the company that I work for has blocked orders from certain countries due to fraud.

Crazyracer, like some of the other comments have alluded to, we are only trying to protect both parties in this transaction....you and Paragon Products. Credit card fraud is rampant and shipping internationally requires a bit more work on our part to make sure things are on the up and up. Please feel free to mask off any transactions on your credit card statement...we're merely trying to verify the billing address on the card. In a perfect world none of this would be necessary, but unfortunately we've been stung in the past and with small margins you have to sell a lot of merchandise to cover the loss.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I am in Canada. I have been doing lots of business on ebay with more than 100 positive and 1 neutral feedback. As most people on ebay are from the USA, those are the ones who are ripping me off once in a while. I am still doing business on ebay with people from the US as I like both :-). What I don't like is the wording some people (inc. paragon) are using, probably not intentional but when I read Mike S. post from San Jose then you see what I mean. I am sure that he has been ripped off by both Canadian as well as US residents. I also don't understand why US companies can't verify Canadian addresses. Just click on www.canada411.com and there is all you need. BTW I bought the part from another friendly company in California and no, I did not provide a different address for billing and shipping.
