Apparently these were meant to be Ti pistons?? Turns out that the prices I was quoted for a rebuild kit didn't include the pistons. Factor in say @$50 x 12 = $600 more for these. Seals $250. Labour more hundreds. ergghhh....

Are the GT3 M450 pistons titanium with ceramic coating? I'm having my calipers rebuilt atm. Just left them to be painted. I already ordered new seals from Zeckhausen. These calipers are not cheap to rebuild.

They should be a two piece piston. Titanium with a removable ceramic tip.

Correct. They are two piece pistons. Just never knew they were made out of titanium.

The calipers in this thread are 997.2 , not 996. The mounting bolt pattern is wider apart on the later version. I've been quoted $100 per 2 part piston so $1200 just for them....am now shopping for new calipers. This whole process has been delightful....

Frightening. New calipers are the fix here, for sure!

Wow. Never underestimate the ineptitude of the home mechanic. Who sold those?

A good thing about race calipers is that you also save weight. My AP Racing 6 piston calipers are 400 gram lighter each than the 4 piston 944 Turbo S caliper. And I don't remember the 996/997 monoblock calipers to be any lighter than the old Porsche/Brembo calipers.

The NASCAR boys use similar if not identical AP callipers to Duke's on the two road courses and the short tracks. I thought it was very interesting to see on a 951.
