Default 1989 turbo clutch adjustment problem.

Has anyone run into this problem.

I replaced the clutch master cylinder with a new one, bleed the system and adjusted the clutch pedal. All seemed OK, drive the car for a few miles with the clutch getting progressively stiffer, the clutch release point going higher and higher. It seemed the clutch pedal needed to be readjusted one again, (it had to be loosened).

Everything seemed fine and a 30 miles later, the same thing occurred again. The pedal stiffer, clutch did not seem to be fully releasing. The little rod between the master and the clutch pedal is once again too tight and had to be loosened. I have yet to run the car to confirm this has worked but am reluctant to do so in case some else is wrong that I will be making worse.

Does the master need to be bleed again or is something bent in the clutch pedal mechanism that I don't know about. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Probably wasn't bled properly initially and as you pumped it it functioned better.

My advise is to relieve the rod to allow for more free travel, then try pumping it and see if the pedal starts to feel more normal. I've only had to adjust the clutch rod a couple of times myself.

That is what I thought, but after having to adjust it twice, I am beginning to worry it is something else. I did originally bleed with one of those pressure systems which in the past has done an excelled job of bleeding the braking system. Maybe you are right, there is still air in the system. I will try the car out again this evening and see if the problem returns.

No, I did not replace the slave cylinder. The hose to the reservoir was replaced. I replaces the slave more as a preventative measure than an actual leak, I did look like it was getting a little damp which I attributed to lack of use given the car only has 51K original miles.

Check to make sure that your clutch fork is not breaking.
